“Aligning with Light” | Karen Tanner
A Montana native, Karen Tanner developed the “Solstice Series” in her attunement to nature. Karen’s contemporary paintings are a response to the opening of “Light” seen both on the Western horizons and the spiritual sense she derives from the Solstice. The metal leaf seen in some of the pieces is reminiscent of the Catholic Church’s iconic art, which Karen was influenced by as a child.
A graduate of Central High School and MSU-B, Karen Tanner is the fine arts educator at Billings Senior High School. She was awarded a fellowship at the Art Institute of Chicago in the summer of 2010. As well as exhibiting in local art shows, she has illustrated Silly Songs, published in 1998 by Thinking Publications, and won 1st Place twice for poster designs for the Bozeman “Sweet Pea Festival.”
“Aligning with Light” in the Apple Gallery was exhibited June 1 – August 1 2011.
